Here are some tips for talking about mental health

For discussing your mental health:

  • Choose a confidant you trust to talk about your mental health 

  • Write down how you're feeling before you talk to your confidant

  • Text if face to face is too intimidating

  • Find important information online that can help you explain what you’re going through, and reference it

For discussing with another person about their mental health:

  • Ask. It’s that simple. Ask what they want or what they need. 

  • Acknowledge what they say, do not be quick to judge. Treat it like any other health concern. 

  • Be a good friend even if it’s hard. Be patient and be kind.
